After the initial colonization of Londinum and Sihnon, Bernadette was the first planet to be terraformed and settled by humanity. The only remaining ship that brought folk who made the Exodus from Earth-That-Was (named Prometheus, after the legendary god who gave man fire) stands in Bernadette’s capital city of New Paris as a monument to their courage. The ark, a monstrous star ship about 5 times the size of an alliance cruiser, has had it’s interior converted to a museum containing information about the famous journey as well as information on the history and cultures of Earth-That-Was.
Bernadette is a traditionally launching point for those wanting to leave and settle on other worlds. Many businesses cater to settlers, selling tools and other supplies.
There is also an underground slave-trade on Bernadette; captured settlers are hauled off and forced to work on terraforming stations.
Bernadette is also home to many churches and religious groups.
Though a restricted landing zone, if you are a group of settlers or planning a trip to the ark museum, you’re usually welcome.
